2007 Tikal Amorio
Robert Parker Jr's "The Wine Advocate",
December 2008
92 Points

“Purple-colored, it reveals an attractive perfume of pain grille, mineral, black cherry, and violets. Medium to full-bodied, it is silky-textured with a surprisingly elegant personality for its size. Layered, sweetly-fruited, and intense, the wine has solid aging potential and should provide prime drinking from 2010 to 2018.”

“Slightly firm, with graphite and toast notes framing the plum and blackberry fruit. The rich, toasty finish has nice focus.”

2006 Tikal Amorio Notable Press Summary

2006 Tikal Amorio
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar,
February 2008
90+ Points

"Bright ruby. Tight, primary aromas of crushed dark berries, mocha, fresh herbs, pepper and cocoa powder, with a whiff of exotic dried fruits. Intensely flavored, focused and bright, with firm acidity framing the dark fruit and pepper flavors. Finishes with a liqueur-like sweetness, suauve tannins and lovely length and lift. Still quite youthfully tight-in fact, a bit grapey today and in need of patience."

"The 2006 Amorio (100% Malbec), from a great vintage, spent 12 months in French oak, 60% new. It is opaque purple-colored with a splendid perfume of pain grille, vanilla, spice box, black cherry, and blackberry. Medium to full-bodied, it has a plush palate feel, excellent balance, and nicely combines elegance with power. It has enough silky tannin to evolve for 4 - 6 years and should drink well though 2020. Wine Spectator, November 2007
"A rich, polished style, with fig cake, mocha, chocolate pudding and raspberry ganache flavors that glide over ample, but well-rounded tannins. The long finish is filled with dark fruit. For the hedonistic crowd!"

"From the heights of La Consulta, in the Uco Valley, this malbec feels pure and bright, its acidity enhancing the cherry and strawberry flavors and mineral tannins."
